Strictly Come Dancing 2018: Danny John-Jules reveals he COLLAPSED in rehearsals
STRICTLY COME DANCING 2018 favourite Danny John-Jules revealed he collapsed last week while rehearsing for the BBC competition.
It Takes Two: Danny reveals he COLLAPSED during rehearsal
The 58-year-old actor was rehearsing for Strictly Come Dancing in the studio last Friday night when he collapsed.
Danny told Zoe Ball while appearing on It Takes Two how the show’s floor manager was unsympathetic and asked if he’d like to rehearse again.
However, Danny’s health fears didn’t start on Friday, with the star struggling with his cardio on Thursday.
Zoe noted how Danny “didn’t have it together on Thursday night”, making their training extend “to the wire”.
I did collapse after the second run on the tech-run on Friday
Danny, who received the first 10 of this year’s series, explained: “It’s cardio, it’s fitness. I haven’t move like that since, oh, I don’t know, long time!
“And so you’re worried about not slowing down in the Jive.
“If you slow down it’s very obvious and it’s a bit of a no no. And that was my main worry. So I just kept having to do it.
“I did collapse after the second run on the tech-run on Friday.”
Utterly shocked, an open-mouthed Zoe gasped: “I cannot. I’m not really surprised!”
The 47-year-old host then asked: “How exhausting was that Danny? I mean, that was full on.”
Danny continued: “Well, the floor manager looked down at me looking up at the ceiling and said, ‘Do you want to do another one?’
“The knees were screaming louder than Amy. She was screaming and my knee was screaming afterwards.”
Speaking about this weekend’s Halloween special, Zoe revealed Danny would be performing a lift.
The Red Dwarf star revealed: “I haven’t done a lift since 1983. A lady called Jackie Harman. Google it!”
Danny’s Strictly partner Amy Dowden teased: “At the end, Danny won’t be leaving the dance floor in any normal way.”
Strictly: Danny and Amy receive first ten of the series
Following the show, It Takes Two and Strictly Come Dancing fans took to social media.
One viewer tweeted: “Amy is so proud of Danny, I’m loving that #ItTakesTwo.”
“Great that #Strictly #ItTakeTwo mentioned about @JayMcGuiness’s Jive getting the first ten of the series while taking to Danny and Amy about their Jive on tonight show,” posted another.
A third added: “Another fantastic #ItTakesTwo with @ZoeTheBall @dowden_amy @DannyJohnJules @StaceyDooley @keviclifton @ianwaite and lovely to see @jojo_radebe too. Thanks for the fun and laughter guys xxx.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday on BBC One at 6.50pm.
