Press on BBC: Fans praise BBC drama and DEMAND second series
PRESS aired it’s final episode this evening and fans took to Twitter to say how much they loved the BBC’s series and demand a second season.
Press: Holly Evans makes shock return to The Herald
The BBC’s six-part drama series came to its tense conclusion this evening on BBC One and fans seemed pretty pleased by its final episode.
The Herald is a left-leaning broadsheet which tries to balance integrity with sales.
The Post doesn’t care so many about its integrity and will do anything for a juicy scoop.
Press’ main protagonist is Herald journalist, Holly Evans (played by Charlotte Riley) who becomes more and more frustrated with her editor’s cautious approach to reporting on the news.
She ends up becoming tempted by The Post’s editor, Duncan Allen (Ben Chaplin) who has a much more gung-ho approach to journalism.
Yet, tonight’s episode reveals Duncan’s true nature and Holly realises that the story comes first.
It’s all left in perfect balance for a second season, which the BBC has yet to confirm whether will happen or not.
However, if the fans’ reaction is anything to go by, a second season will be in the works very soon.
One fan wrote: “Please tell me there's going to be a second series!”
Another said: “Brilliant episode to end the series of Press tonight. Hoping for a second series in the offing, been the best drama I’ve watched this year.”
“Really enjoyed Press. Hoping for a second series,” wrote another viewer.
A fourth viewer tweeted: “Please BBC One, tell me there’s going to be another series of Press!”
The overall response to Press was incredibly positive and there was a huge number of fans praising the show and pleading for a second season.
Many viewers also took to the time to praise the show’s two leads: Charlotte Riley and Ben Chaplin.

“Plaudits to Ben Chaplin for his turn as dastardly Duncan Allen in Press,” wrote one viewer on Twitter.
They continued: “A very entertaining performance, one of the best of the year. More please!”
Another said: ”Ben Chaplin should win awards for his part in Press. Superb acting, and achieves the feat of making you feel sorry for a dislikable character.”
“Press on BBC One is outstanding. Charlotte Riley is excellent,” said another fan.
Press is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
