However, we do know who is the main cast of Doctor Who season 11. Read on to find out all about the new cast.
The 13th Doctor - Jodie Whittaker
Jodie Whittaker was announced as the first official female doctor (Joanna Lumley previous played the Doctor in a Comic Relief sketch) in July 2017, after everyone from Richard Ayoade to Phoebe Waller-Bridge was rumoured to be taking on the role.
She has previously worked with Chibnall on Broadchurch, and has also appeared in Attack the Block, Black Mirror and Trust Me.
Chibnall has described her take on The Doctor as, “incredibly lively, warm, funny, energetic, inclusive – she’s the greatest friend you could wish to have as your guide around the universe".
Graham O’Brien - Bradley Walsh
The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh is playing new companion Graham, who he as described as a typical embarrassing dad.
He told Metro: “Hopefully younger viewers will look at my character and some of the things I say and do and think, ‘Oh my dad would say that. Oh my grandad would say that'.”
Bradley has previously worked with Chibnall on Law and Order: UK and has previously acted in Coronation Street, The Old Curiosity Shop and Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Yasmin Khan - Mandip Gill
One of the two younger companions is Yasmin (Mandip Gill), who was revealed to be a police officer in the latest Doctor Who trailer.
She said of her character to Critical Hit: “She works in Sheffield, she really enjoys her job but she asks for a little bit more."
Mandip Gill has previously worked with co-star Tosin Cole on Hollyoaks, and has also worked on Cuckoo, Doctors and Casualty.
Ryan Sinclair - Tosin Cole
Tosin will be playing the last companion Ryan, a character who suffers from dyspraxia.
Chibnall decided to give the character the condition that affects coordination because: “It's a relatively common thing among kids, so I think it's important to see that heroes come in all shapes and sizes.”
As well as appearing alongside Mandip in Hollyoaks, Tosin has appeared in Eastenders spin-off E20, Versailles and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
HOW MANY EPISODES ARE THERE IN THE NEW SERIES OF DOCTOR WHO?
Sharon D. Clarke - Grace O’Brien
The only recurring character who has so far been announced by the BBC is Graham’s wife Grace, to be played by Sharon D Clarke.
Sharon told Radio 4: “I am a human, and Bradley Walsh is my husband, and he’s human, and I think that’s about as much as I can tell you.”
The actress has previously appeared in Holby City and The Singing Detective, and will soon appear in new BBC drama Informer.
