BBC News: 'Not good enough’ Carol Kirkwood slammed by Dan Walker
BBC BREAKFAST presenter Dan Walker jokingly slammed BBC weather forecaster Carol Kirkwood following her weather report on todays edition of the early morning news programme.
BBC Breakfast: Dan criticises Carol's wildlife observations
Presenting the weather from a park in South London, Carol Kirkwood, 56, informed her BBC Breakfast colleagues about what wildlife she had seen while eating to present the forecast.
Dan, 41, introduced the segment where the camera was focussed on a heron stood in the water, capturing just one of the numerous animals Carol had seen in the morning.
Carol then went on to present the weather as she moved on from the wildlife talk, handing back to the studio once she concluded.
However, as Dan quizzed the weather forecaster about what she will tell them later on about the animals, the presenter seemed slightly disappointed.
A squirrel? That’s not good enough
Following the forecast, Dan said: “Thank you very much for that Carol.
“We’ve had a heron, we’ve had a dog, we’ve had conkers, what have you got next for us Carol?” he asked the weather forecaster.
Before Carol could answer, Dan added: “Come on, this has got to be a good morning.”
“Well a squirrel just went scooting past, there might be a cat too,” Carol told her BBC colleague, which led Dan to immediately hit back at the weather presenter.
“A squirrel? That’s not good enough. Not good enough,” he jokingly swiped at Carol which he followed with laughter.
Joining in with the humorous moment, Carol said: “It’s been a wee bit contrary,” with Dan laughing at the weather reporter's response.
Dan jokingly told Carol: “You set the bar very high, very early this morning,” as he and Louise Minchin, 50, continued to tease the weather reporter.
“It’s very lovely here,” Carol reported back to the studio, with Louise ending the segment saying: “Thank you so much, we’ll see what happens later.”
Carol later took to Twitter to post a picture of herself with a dog called Albus which featured in her report.
BBC viewers seemed more impressed by Carol’s nature talk then Dan, taking to the social media site to comment on the picture.
One viewer wrote: “Lovely photo Carol and Albus is beautiful,” while a second added: “Gorgeous wee fella - and what a fab name!”
Would you like to see adorable Albus again? (Donald my cat will not be impressed!!!) @BBCBreakfast xxx pic.twitter.com/y3YupQPva7

Fans of the popular weather reporter were sent into meltdown and took to Twitter to air their concerns over her absence.
One viewer wrote: “Hi Carol, how are you doing? Are you doing ok?.
While another added: “Hey what’s happened to Carol? Not seen her on the weather for ages now.”
Fellow meteorologist Matt Taylor, 42, stepped in to replace Carol as it has now been revealed the weather presenter was taking a summer break.
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
