Celebrity MasterChef: John Torode SNAPS at Lisa Maxwell
Arriving at the Black History Museum in Dudley, the Celebrity MasterChef contestants felt the heat as they entered the semi-finals.
The remaining celebrities were split into two teams on the BBC cooking show and were tasked with the almighty task of preparing dishes for the museum staff.
Rushing around the mock-up kitchens the celebrities struggled to keep their cool as food continually burnt under the intense heat of the cookers.
However, the heat was also felt by judge John, 53, who had to call up Lisa, 54, on what to do as she was running around attending to several components.
Why are you hanging around?
As Lisa hastily tried to prepare her cauliflower for her vegetarian dish, John asked: “What about some of these cauliflower, are they going in the oven?”
“Not in the next few minutes,” Lisa replied but John didn’t agree with her lack approach.
John told Lisa: “Get them in and get them cooked. Why are you hanging around?”
On her tail, Lisa hit back at the judge: “Well, I thought we had longer.”
“Well you have but the problem is everybody is going to want to use the oven,” John snapped as her urged the contestant to hurry up.
“Four tarts, there’s beef going in the oven, the peppers are in the oven, it’s like oven mania,” he declared.
Lisa also prepared some stuffed peppers as part of her dish, but failed to win over the staff at the museum on serving.
Instead, her attempts were offered as sides to the meat dish to try and get the food on the plates.
On returning to the MasterChef kitchen, the contestants were informed they would have to cook a dish based around one of their favourite ingredients.
Visibly shocked by her choice, Lisa attempted to create a dish around a lobster. Tackling the task, Lisa also hoped to create an aioli.
However, on presenting her final dish to judges John and Gregg Wallace, 53, the pair were in agreement the dish seemed rushed.
Although they praised few on her components, the judges were unimpressed by Lisa’s time management.
Gregg critiqued the actress, saying: “When we said five minutes to go, you had nothing on a plate and you were still shaving veg.
“If you’re running out of time, you cannot continue with that plan. You have to change it. You have to adapt,” he continued.
Alongside Union J singer Josh Cuthbert, 26, Lisa was the second celebrity to bow out of the competition in the first semi-final.
On leaving the show, Lisa said: “I have a skill now. It may not be as skilful as everybody else’s, but I have a skill.
“I can go home and cook my family a meal,” she continued.
Celebrity MasterChef continues tomorrow night at 8.30pm on BBC One.
