The Chase: ‘I’m not supposed to do that’ Mark Labbett silenced as contestant interrupts
THE CHASE continued on ITV this afternoon, as Bradley Walsh pitted four new contestants against the formidable Chaser. However, one contestant was forced to apologise to The Beast Mark Labbett.
The Chase contestant apologises for interrupting the chaser
As The Chase got under way this afternoon, four new willing quizzers prepared themselves to face The Chaser in a bid to win the jackpot prize.
With one contestant already through to the final round, it was contestant Emma’s turn to join host Bradley Walsh, 58, to try and add to the jackpot total.
The player managed to accumulate £5,000 in the cash builder round and progressed to face The Beast.
However, while explaining one of the questions, Mark Labbett was forced to stop as Emma jumped in to give her knowledge.
I’m sorry, I’m not supposed to do that
Following a question about NFL football, Emma was dubious over her answer as she lacked great knowledge about the American sport.
“Do you know who he is?” He’s the American Chaser,” Bradley told the contestant hinting Mark could close the gap.
Emma was shocked when it was revealed her answer was correct with Mark going on to explain how the NFl team, Pittsburgh Steelers, acquired their name.
Mark asked the rhetorical question: “Do you know why they’re called Steelers?”
However, before he could answer his own question, Emma jumped in and answered: “Steel works.”
Realising her errors, Emma said: “I’m sorry, I’m not supposed to do that.”
Bradley was quick to defend the contestant and told she could interrupt if she had the knowledge.
All four of the contestants managed to get through to the final chase with a jackpot of £23,000 within their grasps.
The total could have been higher as Emma and fellow contestant Bill managed a clean sweep of getting all their questions right.
However, the pair declined the higher total’s, with minds purely on making it through to the final stage of the competition.
Emma seemed to have all the knowledge as she answered a majority of the questions ahead of the final chase.
Bradley applauded the 52 year-old on her efforts, informing the contestants the 17 steps they had managed to build was a winning number many times.
Viewers of The Chase took to Twitter to reiterate Bradley’s praise for contestant Emma.
One wrote: “Gowan Emma! #TheChase.”
Another added: “Looks like Emma could just do this on her own #thechase,” as the PR consultant continually hit her buzzer.
“Emma running the show #TheChase,” a third commented, while a fourth added: “Good job they have Emma #TheChase.”
A fifth exclaimed: “Emma is killing this final chase ! #GangOfChase #thechase.”
Unfortunately, the contestants' efforts weren’t enough Mark’s earlier prediction about beating the foursome came to fruition.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
