Bodyguard spoilers: BBC tease David Budd’s arrest for Julia killing in epic finale trailer
BODYGUARD is nearing the end and with the murderer of Home Secretary Julia Montague still at large, police point the finger at David Budd, who ready himself for a violent stand-off with armed officers in the finale trailer.
Bodyguard: Trailer for the thrilling season finale
BBC’s nail-biting drama Bodyguard released an explosive trailer at the end of last night’s penultimate episode.
The action-packed short clip showed David Budd (played by Richard Madden) being accused of assassinating Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes).
Julia lost her life in a terrifying bomb blast which blew through an auditorium during her speech in episode three.
Since the tragic event, David has tried to piece together what happened leading up to the explosion in the hope of finding Julia’s killer.
It's over
But it would seem he has been working in vain as the trailer showed David about to go head-to-head with armed police.
In the opening sequences of the trailer, Julia was shown before her death in what appeared to be a flashback.
Moments later her replacement, Mike Travis (Vincent Franklin), can be seen meeting with MI5 boss Stephen Hunter-Dunn (Stuart Bowman).
A sinister Mike whispered to Stephen: “Look no further for Julia’s assassin,” before a wounded and bruised David appeared on screen.
Later DS Louise Rayburn (Nina Toussaint-White), who has been investigating Julia’s murder, claimed there has been “an inside man all along”.
The last few shots show armoured officers pointing their guns at David as his boss, CG Lorraine Craddock (Pippa Haywood), pleaded with him to surrender via walkie talkie.
Trying to reason with David, Lorraine begged: “Give yourself up.”
Presumably agreeing to do so, David, who was covered in blood and had stitches on his face, admitted: “It’s over.”
During the commotion, David’s estranged wife Vicky (Sophie Rundle) looked petrified as she watched the situation escalate at the scene.
Then at the very end of the video, David, who is wearing a pair of blue latex gloves, is seen loading a gun.
Is this confirmation David is the killer? Or is the war veteran being set up after trying to investigate the explosion?
Also, if David is not the assassin then who is the “inside man” DS Louise was referring to?
Fans believe Chanel Dyson (Stephanie Hyam), who was fired as the PR advisor to Julia in the first episode, is somehow behind the Home Secretary’s death as she returned last night.
One viewer asked on Twitter: “Hmm. Why is Chanelle back," while another added: “She’s totally working with the bad guys, and now she’s gonna be able to track him.”
A third exclaimed: “Chanel is so dodgy, DON'T TRUST HER #bodyguard,” meanwhile someone else wrote: “Is Chanel a security service honey trap?”
Bodyguard concludes Sunday on BBC One at 9pm.
