ITV Good Morning Britain: ‘Shut up!’ Kate Garraway shut down by Sir Benjamin Slade
ITV GOOD MORNING BRITAIN hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard welcomed Sir Benjamin Slade onto the show today as he opened up about wanting to marry.
Sir Benjamin told Kate, 51, and Ben, 43, he is looking for a new wife and hoping to start a family on Good Morning Britain.
However as they chatted about his options for starting a family, the 72-year-old wasn’t too impressed when Kate admitted she couldn’t tell if he was joking.
Speaking about starting a family, Sir Benjamin said: “I’ve got lots of fabulous girlfriends but they’re over 50 and don’t want children and can’t have any more children.
“They’re great fun but actually I think its important to have a future. I never had a family so its about time I started.”
Host Ben then suggested: “Have you ever thought about adopting Sir Benjamin, you seem like the type of person who has a lot of love.”
“Lots of kids need a loving home,” Kate added.
But Sir Benjamin revealed: “I did think about it but they did say I was too old to adopt.”
He added that he believed his political views would also stop him from adopting.
Kate went on to note: “There’s such a twinkle in the eyes it’s hard to know what’s serious and what’s not, isn’t it Benjamin?”
Clearly unimpressed, Sir Benjamin snapped back: “Shut up!”
However, the pair were simply joking as they both began to giggle.
“I agree with you there telling her to shut up,” Ben chuckled.
It comes after Piers Morgan was told to “shut up by Geoffrey Boycott on the show earlier this week.
Geoffrey appeared on the programme via video link to be questioned about Piers and Susanna Reid.
Piers wanted to discuss the sport with the cricket legend and conversation turned to Kevin Pietersen as Piers asked Geoffrey what he thought of him.
“Although Piers loves him, he has to be honest, he has been a clown to himself at times,” Geoffrey laughed.
Piers replied: “Yeah, he wouldn’t dispute that Geoffrey.”
But the pair began to take over one another and Geoffrey began to get irritated.
“Shut up a minute. Shut up a minute,” the 77-year-old insisted as Piers and Susanna began to laugh.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
