WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Keeping Faith on BBC One
The final episode of the smash hit drama from Wales, Keeping Faith, ended last night on BBC One.
For those who missed the last instalment of the story of Faith Howells (Eve Myles), you can still catch up on BBC iPlayer.
Those who did catch the ending of Keeping Faith however, have been baffled by what happened at the end of the series. Here’s the controversial ending explained.
What happened at the end of Keeping Faith?
After the whole series saw Faith trying to track down her husband Evan (Bradley Freegard), the final moments of the episode saw him suddenly reappear to take their children away.
This happened while Faith was embracing her lover Steve Albini (Mark Lewis Jones) upstairs.
It seems Faith will have to track down her children again after spending much of season one trying to get her daughter Alys (Demi Letherby) back from the group of corrupt policemen.
This appearance of Evan from out of the blue shocked many of the show’s fans.
One user on Twitter wrote: “Did they honestly just end #KeepingFaith like that!? I am not ok with this? I need answers”
However, the ending frustrated fans who were hoping for answers to the mysteries of the first season.
Another Twitter user wrote: “Caught up with end of #KeepingFaith that I was too tired to watch last night!! Wasn’t really for me, very convoluted and that ending? Really? He just turns up when all sorted out?”
The response was not all negative, however, with another user tweeting: “The last episode of #KeepingFaith blew my head I guess season two is in the pipeline! #EveMyles was superb.”
However, the episode did not offer any easy answers about where Evan has been.
Instead, it seems an explanation of the ending will be in the second series.
Luckily, the second season is already in development according to Eve Myles.
However, the BBC has not yet confirmed the show has been renewed.
This did not stop the show from filling the ending with loose ends to be tied up in a second season.
Another plot point saw Faith asking colleague Cerys Jones (Hannah Daniel) not to report the kidnapping of her daughter to the police as she’d made a deal with the kidnappers.
However, Hannah had already sent the report.
This could have serious repercussions for Faith in season two as the dodgy coppers take their revenge on her family.
