BBC weather predicts torrential downpours and thunder to hit UK
After a drizzly night BBC Breakfast’s weather reporter Carol arrived on set to explain that this week’s weather is very mixed.
She began: “We have some showers in the east, but we will see some sunshine today.”
Monday will begin with a cloudy start, but Carol continued: “We have quite heavy pulses of rain currently over North East England.
“We will see some further showers develop in the east which will be quite heavy and potentially thundery.
“Northern Ireland - you’ll be starting off with some showers and some cloud later.”
And the nearing showers means beachgoers will be drenched in Cornwall, Carol warned.
What’s more, the ongoing showers in the east today also have the potential to become heavy later on.
Carol finished Monday’s report by adding: “It is going o be quite a humid night.”
Tuesday, Carol went on: “Will have a fair bit of sunshine,” but the continuing bout of rain will spill into the morning.
“But we are looking at some sunny spells up to about 24 or 25 degrees,” she added.
Carol moved on to Wednesday’s forecast, which, she explained, has “rain rejuvenating in Ireland.”
This spell will cause showers to continue throughout Ireland on Wednesday.
But the rain will later “sink into the east,” bringing the showers through into central England.
She continued: “Through Wednesday night and into Thursday this weather front will come south.”
But the moving showers will dissipate as they move, causing the drizzle to break the further it moves down.
“It will be weaker in the South East,” she said. “And will be followed by some showers which can be quite beefy.”
“We’re looking at high teens at best on Thursday.”
The continuing drizzle may mark the end of Britain’s heatwave which was experienced over the summer.
But Thursday’s sunny spell looking at heights of 25 could continue the ongoing heat.
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
