Maryland shooting: Police sent to ALL New York media offices after Capital Gazette carnage
NEW York City Police Department (NYPD) have announced they are sending officers to the headquarters of all the major media outlets across the city after the attack in the Capital Gazette newsroom in Maryland, which has reportedly left five people dead and many others injured.

This comes after a gunman opened fire at the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis, Maryland, which has resulted in at least five deaths.
Police have confirmed one suspect is in custody.
Sergent Brendan Ryan, a spokesman for the NYPD, said: “Officers have been deployed in and around the city at various media outlets out of an abundance of caution”
He did not say the exact location where the officers would be placed due to “security reasons”.
A journalist from The New York Times has tweeted a video of police officers outside the building following the deployment by NYPD.
Michael George said: Right now: 4 NYPD officers stationed outside New York Times headquarters as a precaution after newsroom shooting in Maryland.”
Marc Limansky, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Police Department, said officers were searching the building while trying to get everyone out safely.

He said the situation is "active and ongoing", but could not immediately confirm reports of fatalities.
A reporter at the newspaper tweeted about the shooting, saying that a gunman " shot through the glass door to the office".
He then said: ”Can't say much more and don't want to declare anyone dead, but it's bad.
“There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you're under your desk and then hear the gunman reload.”

Maryland governor Larry Hogan tweeted: "Absolutely devastated to learn of this tragedy in Annapolis. I am in contact with County Executive Steve Schuh, and @MDSP is on the scene assisting @AACOPD. Please, heed all warnings and stay away from the area. Praying for those at the scene and for our community."
President Donald Trump tweeted: "Prior to departing Wisconsin, I was briefed on the shooting at Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Thank you to all of the First Responders who are currently on the scene."
