Cars started flying through the air after an extreme heatwave damaged part of a road
EXTREMELY hot weather caused part of a major roadway to buckle, forming a large bump which multiple cars then sped over, sending them flying.
Road buckle sends vehicles airborne on MN highway
The footage captured by a Minnesota Department of Transport shows the incident on Saturday where westbound lanes of Highway 36 near Edgerton Street buckled under the extreme heat.
Temperatures reached around 33C on Saturday and caused parts of the road to crack and move upwards. creating a ramp in the road.
Several vehicles were recorded travelling on the westbound carriageway unaware they were about to run over the massive ramp created by the hot weather.
As the cars hit the damaged road at high speed it propelled them into the air before they came crashing back down to earth.

The condition of the road continues to worsen, eventually slowing cars to a standstill, like they would approaching a speed bump.
Cars carry on crossing the damaged road but at a safer speed as traffic starts to build up and drivers begin to realise the danger of the damaged piece of road.
There no reports of motorists injured by the damaged road. The Minnesota Department of Transport has since repaired the damage.
