Former General to appear in court after Calais migrant protest turns violent
A FORMER General protesting against migrants at the Calais Jungle will appear in court after the illegal demonstration turned violent.

Retired General Christian Piquemal was one of around 150 members of Euro-nationalists organisation Pegida who gathered in Calais on Saturday.
The former head of the French Foreign Legion chanted with Pegida: “We must not let Calais die. Calais is part of France.”

Police dispersed the rowdy protest with tear gas.
France had banned any public demonstrations in Calais after previous protests turned ugly.
The demonstration was one of several around Europe and Australia on Saturday amid growing tensions over the influx of asylum-seekers to the continent.

The controversial group - which was founded in Germany - also organised a protest in Birmingham.
Around 250 supporters protested - and the far-right organisation has predicted it is set to explode.

The UK’s Pegida leader, Paul Weston, said: "The next meeting we have is going to be double or treble the numbers.
"By the end of this year, and I'm been quite serious, I want to see 100,000 decent people on the street.”
