Protests in Greece over migrant centre
RIOT police have been deployed after nationalists protested against plans to for a migrant camp.

Dozens of officers attended the demonstration in the port of Perama, Greece, earlier today.
The event, organised by the far-right Golden Dawn party, saw four of the party’s 18 MPs in attendance at the site, less than 10 miles to the west of Greek capital Athens.
The left-wing Greek government has announced plans to build a transit camp for refugees and migrants.

The news comes as Greece comes under pressure from the European Union to build screening centres on five islands and to increase its ability to both house asylum seekers and detain illegal migrants.
Greece has become a key location for both people fleeing war and oppression as well as those looking to go to Europe for a better life.

EU chiefs have threatened to kick Greece out of the Schengen agreement, which would mean it would need to reinstate mandatory checks at its borders, after it was revealed that it had been lax with its border checks.

Greece seriously neglected its obligations
European Commission (EC) vice president Valdis Dombrovskis said: "Greece seriously neglected its obligations and that there are serious deficiencies in the carrying out of external border control that must be overcome ... by the Greek authorities."
He added: “There is no effective identification and registration of irregular migrants.
“Fingerprints are not being entered systematically into the system, travel documents are not being systematically checked for authenticity or against crucial security databases.”
