British teenager Jay Slater is still missing three days after he told friends he would walk back to their accommodation after missing the last bus.

The 19-year-old was on holiday in the Canary Islands with friends, attending a festival, when he went missing on Monday.

The teenager was facing an 11-hour walk and a dead phone, having missed the bus back to his accommodation.

With the remaining one percent of battery he had, he called one of the friends he was on holiday with, saying he was lost, thirsty and injured.

As the search continues, here is everything we know about Jay Slater’s disappearance.

Who is Jay Slater?

Jay Slater is a 19-year-old from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire. The apprentice bricklayer was on his first holiday without family in Tenerife when he went missing.

He went to the NRG music festival with friends Lucy and Brad on Sunday and later went back to the accommodation of two people he had met there after his friends left early.

Friends and family have flown to Tenerife to search for the teenager, who is an apprentice bricklayer.

Coronation Street actress Vicky Entwistle, best known for her role as Janice Battersby, also issued her support online.

The soap star, who is closely connected to the family, penned on her social media channels: "My God Mother's Grandson has gone missing. His Mother has flown out 7pm. To join the police search. Hope to God they find him. Please pray for him."

When and where was he last seen?

Jay was last heard from on Monday at 8.15am, when he called his friend Lucy Mae to tell her he was lost, had no water and his phone was on one percent.

One of the people he had met had driven them back to his apartment in a hire car, but Jay didn't realise how far away this was.

He told Lucy he planned to walk back to his after missing a bus, a journey expected to take around 11 hours on foot.

The teen also told her that he had cut his leg on a cactus along with a photograph of his location, but said he didn’t know where he was.

Lucy said: “He’s ended up out in the middle of nowhere. Jay was obviously thinking he would be able to get home from there. But then in the morning he’s set off walking, using his maps on his phone and ended up in the middle of mountains with nothing around.”

Authorities are now scouring Rural de Teno park, an area popular with hikers, which is thought to be his last known location based on the last data provided by his phone before the battery died.

Mike Neville, ex-head of Lambeth's Missing Persons unit, said this call would prove crucial, allowing search efforts to concentrate on a more specific location.

He added: "But because he made that phone call, they may be able to pinpoint that area. It's different in that way to Mosley, It's a tighter area. The police will be conducting all sorts of search teams and using helicopters and potentially drones. Park rangers will know particular tracks and where best to search. I am sure the Spanish police will be putting together a professional and coordinated search."

Where are authorities searching?

A missing person’s report was filed at around 9am on Monday and the search kicked into gear.

A specialist mountain rescue team and a police helicopter have been deployed to look for Jay in the Rural de Teno park.

A spokesperson for the Civil Guard said it was focusing on the area around the village of Masca, near his last known location in the north.

Authorities briefly switched their search to the south of the island following a false lead on Wednesday, close to where Jay was staying in the tourist hotspots Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas.

The last known image of Jay before he went missing has also now been shared in the hope someone has spotted the teen.

What has his family said?

Jay’s mother Debbie Duncan has said his disappearance is an “absolute living nightmare”.

“I just want my baby back,” she said. "He's out there somewhere, or somebody knows where he is. We just need to find my baby."

Debbie also received a chilling Snapchat message on Tuesday when she arrived in Tenerife - telling her to "kiss goodbye to your son".

She said: “I just think he’s being held against his will. He’s not a stupid lad. He wouldn’t have gone walking down bloody mountain. There’s a road there with tourists and buses and properties. He’s not that daft.”
