MICHELLE OBAMA revealed the heartbreaking moment she and her entire family were brought to tears.

Former FLOTUS Michelle Obama revealed she and husband Barack Obama became emotional when they said goodbye to their youngest daughter Sasha as they dropped her off at college. While speaking to Jenna Bush Hager, Ms Obama argued it really hit home during the final goodbyes with her daughter. The former first lady explained that she and Barack Obama wanted to avoid embarrassing their daughter by being overbearing.
Ms Obama added that she was looking forward to both of her daughters growing up into independent women by admitted it made her “melancholy” to realise the days of unwavering adoration from her daughters were over.
She said: “Yeah, there were tears.
“We were really good about it.
“We didn’t want to embarrass her because she had roommates.

“It was at the end, after lunch, when we said the final goodbye.
“When we got in a car, me, Barack and Malia who was there with us.
“Then Sasha drove off on her own and said that last goodbye.
“That is when we were tearing up.

“I am excited for my girls to grow up and to become independent.
“But you do feel a little melancholy that they were never the little ones that sit on your lap and listen to your every word and look at you adoringly.
“Those days are over.”
Earlier in the interview, Ms Obama was also asked what she was looking forward to in 2020 and the future.

She answered: “I’m looking forward to more of this.
“We will be building up the next generation of leaders replacing ourselves.
“We will be getting out of the way and let some young people sit in some of these seats.
“Barack and I will be doing that for the rest of our lives.”
