THERE is one day left to go until voting begins in the midterm elections 2018 - but what will happen in the key state of Indiana?
US midterms: Author says country is 'in FLAMES'
The Democrats are set to win a majority in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections 2018, opinion polls suggest.
But control of the Senate could come down to closely-fought contests in just six US states, one of which is Indiana, according to analysis from Reuters.
One Senate seat and all nine of Indiana’s seats in the House are up for re-election on Tuesday, November 6.
The midwestern US state, home to 6.7 million people, is usually Republican-voting but the race for the Senate could go either way.
What do the latest polls suggest?
Senate
Incumbent Joe Donnelly, a Democrat, is running for a second term in the Senate.
His conservative stance, backing Donald Trump’s border wall with Mexico plan, has at time led him to seem more Republican in tone.
Donnelly has a 70.8 percent chance - 5 in 7 - of winning, according to the latest Five Thirty Eight figures.
His Republican opponent, Mike Braun, has just a 29.2 percent chance.
Former US president Barack Obama got a zealous response from Indiana crowds on Sunday when he urged them to vote Democrat Joe Donnelly for the Senate.
There were huge roars when he told them “you don't want just a yes man”.
House
The Republicans have a much better chance of holding onto seats in the House of Representatives.
This is the current breakdown prediction, according to Five Thirty Eight:
Six seats are forecast to be ‘solid’ Republicans.
The candidates are Larry Bucshon, Greg Pence, Susan Brooks, Jim Baird, Jim Banks and Jackie Walorski.
Republican Trey Hollingsworth is ‘likely’ to win with a forecast share of 52 percent of the vote.
Only two seats are expected to be won by the Democrats.
They are Peter Visclosky and Andre Carson.
Republican Governor candidate Eric Holcomb is also predicted to win.
