A woman has been praised for her "genius" dating app hack, which has apparently led to her matching with an Olympic gold medallist.

Sofia, known on TikTok as @sofiaelizabethshackup, revealed how she tweaked her Hinge settings to the Olympic Village and ended up chatting with a victor from the US.

In her video, she gushed: "Whoever said to change your location to the 'Olympic Village' currently in Paris to match with an Olympian, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for adding to the 'lore' that I will tell my future children about."

She claimed to have "instantly kicked it off" with the athlete, adding while failing to contain her laughter: "We get to talking and honestly, I could feel the chemistry and the future gold medal in my hands.

"When it was their time to shine in their sport, they didn't just shine, they won. They won the first gold medal for the United States of America - that's my match baby, that's my match."

Despite not having spoken since, Sofia remains proud of her dating strategy. She explained that she simply adjusted her Hinge location settings to Saint-Ouen, Paris, where the Olympic Village is located.

There were some pitfalls though – as Sofia added: "Here comes the part that you know - swiping. You do kind of have to be hardcore on this if you truly do want an Olympian. I feel like the algorithm eventually picks up that you only want Olympians after saying no to everyone else.

"Then it becomes super easy. And if all goes well, flights to Paris are really cheap right now - for only $300 you can be with your match and see their cardboard bed in person."

Social media users were amused by her app trickery with comments flying in. One user applauded: "I love women - we are so resourceful."

While another added their approval: "This is free game" Thanks sis. " A further comment came from a user who experienced immediate success: "Girl! I'm here just to say thank you.

"The first guy to show up when I changed my location was an athlete - not to mention French guys are just so cute. " Another chimed in with praise: "Doing the Lord's work."
