'My neighbour keeps using my address for parcels – I don't know what to do'

A frustrated Brit has claimed his neighbour uses his address for deliveries, including parcels from Amazon and food from Uber Eats.

Bizarrely, the neighbour in question is his local hospital, which he says doesn't have its own address for deliveries. Taking to Reddit, the man cursed: "In short the hospital uses my address for their delivery services."

He continued: "I constantly get knocking on my door saying are you XX person and when I say no they then ask why is it written for this address. The hospital itself doesn't have a recognised address for delivery and they didn't ask my permission to use mine."

To make matters worse, the man claims his own orders are being redirected to the hospital centre. "I find it frustrating and annoying," he vented. "I wouldn't have complained if it was just this but now I can't order stuff online as it gets redirected to the hospital centre despite it being my address written for when I want to buy stuff via Amazon."

Closing his rant, he admitted he has even involved the local police via 101, but to no avail. "Nothing has been done about it," he moaned.

"Ok used to work in purchasing at a hospital many moons ago, trust me they do have a delivery address," one Reddit user reassured in response. "Sounds like the staff have been told not to get their personal s*** delivered to reception and stores because they are busy enough and don’t want to deal with staff whinging about their parcels and food going missing. So some cheeky staff members have chosen your house instead."

The Redditor continued: "Contact PALS and the Chief Exec and explain what is happening and what a pain it is - take a note of the offenders names if you fancy really dropping them in it. Make very clear to anyone who comes you won’t be taking delivery of anything other than your own things.

"Also it sounds like someone has geocoded your address to that of the hospital which is why you aren’t getting your Amazon parcels. You can contact Amazon’s customer service and get that changed."

"This is most likely staff not the hospital itself. Most likely have asked to have their address removed to stop patients ordering stuff they shouldn't," another person theorised.

"Yep, this," someone else agreed. "One company I worked for before wouldn't allow their address for personal deliveries as it went through their whole mail sorting process and wasted their time. So they banned people from doing it and imposed a fine if they did."

The man later returned to his post to offer an update. "I called the hospital and they said they'd talk with their admins, following that they said they'd stop using my postal code," he said.

"I think they talked with the chiefs but yes I should try to find who the executive chiefs are and contact PALS [...] For now I'll talk with Royal Mail and the other courier services and if this doesn't work then I'll talk with PALS and try to find who the executive chief is."
