UK Snow LIVE UPDATE: England and Scotland hit by HEAVY SNOW - roads and rail grind to halt
SNOW is battering parts of England and Scotland as the Pest from the West rages in from where the Beast from the East left off, sparking travel chaos on roads and railways across the country - just a week after a big freeze brought Britain to a standstill.
Met Office forecasts sleet and snow for some parts of the UK
Weather warnings of snow and ice are in effect for many parts of the country on this morning as police warn of tricky driving conditions.
In Wakefield, a bus skidded in the ice and crashed into a wall in Canal Road, Stanley. Traffic is blocked between Lee Moor Road and Baker Lane.
Forecasters warned of sleet and snow for upland areas and some lower ground overnight into Thursday morning in central and northern England and Wales.
The Met Office warning, covering the East Midlands, North West England, West Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber and Wales came into force just after midnight and runs until 11am on Thursday.

A yellow ice warning is in place for Northern Ireland and a swathe of Scotland until 9am, with forecasters advising slippery patches are likely to form on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
It comes as the country recovers from the impact of the Beast from the East and Storm Emma which brought a deep cold snap and snow and ice last week.
