Parts of Britain will freeze in the coming days, as the latest weather charts have turned icy blue with temperature levels plummeting to -4C. Weather maps from WXCharts suggest that the mercury will plummet on September 29.

The freezing conditions come days after parts of the UK witness some unseasonally warm weather this week.

However, the dry weather of midweek will be interrupted this weekend, according to experts and forecasters.

Southern parts of the British Isles will see heavy, even thundery downpours with bright and sunny spells.

According to WX Charts, icy winds from the Arctic are set to impact Britain toward the end of the month, with temperatures expected to drop significantly.

The worst impacted areas are likely to be in the northern parts of the country.

Areas around Fort William and Wick may witness the most chilly conditions as the temperature levels plunge to -4C.

Other areas like Inverness, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen will see mercury levels hovering around 0-1C, maps show.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast between September 23 and October 2 reads: “Showers with the potential for some longer spells of rain, heavy and perhaps thundery at times, will affect parts of England and Wales at first, especially in the south but tending to ease away to the southeast by the end of Tuesday."

It adds that “generally settled" conditions will prevail, despite low cloud and drizzle along the North Sea coasts in particular. Forecasters predict that most places will actually experience "above average temperatures" during this period.

After this, "spells of wind and rain" are likely to dominate in many areas, but experts say this could be interspersed with "occasional drier and brighter interludes".
