The Northern Lights were visible from the UK during the most recent weekend, with Brits across the country treated to a jaw-dropping display.

Pictures from the Kent coast, as well as Northern Ireland and Scotland, showed the sky lit up luminous green.

Experts expect that Britain will get to see the Northern Lights far more often until mid-2025, where we will see a peak of visibility.

However, will Brits be treated to yet another Aurora Borealis display again tonight? One weather expert has had their say.

"Not a chance is what I can say," said Jim Dale from British Weather Services. He added that the beautiful sight wouldn't be visible due to "almost universal thick cloud cover".

Although Brits may not get to see the Northern Lights this evening, there should be plenty of opportunities to over the coming months.

An expert from The Aurora Zone, a travel agent specialising in Northern Lights trips has explained why.

"We’re firmly within solar maximum which as the name suggests, is when the Sun is at its most active during its 11-year solar cycle," explains astronomer and astrophotographer Matt Robinson.

"During solar maximum, the sun releases a higher frequency of solar flares which launch out dense eruptions of charged solar particles into space.

"The stronger the storm, the further south in the northern hemisphere the aurora borealis is visible. This is why the northern lights have been spotted multiple times in the UK within the last 12 months, and this should continue into 2025."
