UK weather forecast: Britain to bask in glorious spring sunshine HOTTER than Athens today
BRITAIN will be hotter than Athens in some parts today as the mercury rockets to 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Celsius) in the glorious spring sunshine, according to the latest Met Office forecast.
Met Office: UK set for 'sunny spells' and warm temperatures
The Greek capital will hit temperature highs of just 14 degrees Celsius today (57F). But some areas in the UK will bask in the spring sunshine. However large parts of Scotland will be cloudy, threatening to keep temperatures in the low teens Celsius or as low as 10C (50F).
Commenting on the conditions, Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: “Touch of frost first thing.
“But soon it will warm up.
“Some sunshine around where we have the lowest temperatures.
“Not everywhere will be sunny though, a lot of strengthening cloud cover in the north of Scotland with gales for the north of Scotland.”

There will be “thick cloud” in the south of Scotland too, the weather expert cautioned.
Low cloud will “lift” about 10am, Mr McGivern explained.
He said: “And then we are looking at sunny spells.”
The bright conditions will stretch “all the way from northern England and Wales to southern England”, according to the Met Office forecast.
Northern Ireland will also “brighten up” the weather expert advised.
He said: “Where we get sunshine 15 to 17 degrees typically.
“Where we keep the cloud cover and there will be a lot about for the north west of Scotland in particular, we are looking at low teens 11 or 12.”
Friday will be largely cloudy through Scotland and Northern Ireland with a “foggy start” for parts of south west England, central southern England parts of Wales and the Midlands.
