UK Weather Forecast: Travel Chaos FEARS as fog set to DESCEND on Britain for two days
TRAVEL disruption fears have been sparked as the UK is set to be hit by morning fog over the next two days, though temperatures later in the day will remain high and could set a new winter record.
UK weather: Patches of fog forecast across parts of the country
Tuesday morning will see patchy fog over parts of the UK, though it will clear during the morning. Six flights were cancelled and 85 delayed from London airports when fog enveloped parts of the country on Friday. Temperatures will surge throughout the day, and could hit another all time winter record.
However thicker fog will strike on Wednesday morning, especially over southern England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Met office meteorologist Aidan McGivern explained where the fog will hit this morning.
He commented: “There will be a few fog pockets across southern parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Vale of York, parts of Wales and the English channel coast.
“They won’t last long though, that sunshine will get to work lifting the fog and also rising those temperatures after a frost first thing.”

Fog will return late on Tuesday evening and into Wednesday, and is expected to be more widespread.
It is forecast to be concentrated over southern England, parts of Wales, the Vale of York and Northern Ireland.
Mr McGivern expects: “Some dense fog patches and once again frosty for some as we start off Wednesday.
“I think the fog in southern parts of the country will take a bit longer to clear on Wednesday morning lingering until late morning in places, and then just retreating back to coastal areas.”

The western and southern coasts of the country could stay misty well into the afternoon.
However when the fog clears temperatures will be warm, especially today.
Temperatures of 15-16C should be expected in the north, 17-18C for the midlands and south and 20C for London.
There is a chance we could see highs of 21C, which would make today the hottest winter day on record.
If this happens it would take that accolade from Monday, as an unseasonal heatwave sweeps the country.
