UK weather forecast: Temperatures to PLUNGE to 0C as BONE-CHILLING conditions HIT Britain
BRITAIN will be ravaged by a freezing weather front which is currently hurtling across the Atlantic, pushing temperatures down to OC.
Weather: UK to expect fog patches and temperatures to DROP
Britons could wake up to widespread frost as temperatures plummet.
Meteorologist Alex Deakin said: “Temperatures will be down to close to freezing” as Brits wake up on Saturday.
Thermometers will nosedive to 4C or 5C in parts of the UK and “one or two places further north could get as low as freezing,” meteorologist Simon Partridge said.
Mr Partridge added: “It will be a chilly night, with rain in western Scotland and Northern Ireland and everywhere else dry.
“Temperatures could get down to 4 or 5C overnight in the south and one or two places further north could get as low as freezing.”
On Saturday “we will see rain in western Scotland and Northern Ireland which will gradually edge further south, possibly reaching Cumbria by the end of the day.”
As we move through the day, we will see “pockets of rain” in northern England and Scotland, says forecaster Alex Deakin.
A cold front is pushing in and colder air will be arriving with it.
Weather: UK to be hit with FREEZING temperatures
Mr Deakin said Saturday “will be a blustery day with rain and drizzle on and off”.
But this will clear and “temperatures could really jump up,” as we move into the afternoon.
In the south of England, “there will be some cloud about” but temperatures will soar to 16C or 17C.
“It will be a pretty dry end to the day across much of the UK,” he said.
As we look ahead to Sunday, things are set to change.
Mr Partridge said: “Southern parts could see some rain by the end of the day, with temperatures around 17 or 18C.
“It will be the reverse situation in Scotland, starting cloudy and getting drier and brighter by the end of the day.
“Temperatures will peak at about 18C in the south and will be around 13 or 14C further north.”
