Tory Brexiteer dismantles May's 'ABSOLUTE STINKER' EU deal turning UK into 'VASSAL' state
BREXITEER MP Marcus Fysh blasted the Prime Minister for her latest Brexit blueprint, calling the Chequers agreement an "absolute stinker" for failing to deliver on the demands of Leave voters.
Marcus Fysh describes Theresa May’s Brexit plan as a 'stinker'
Marcus Fysh blasted the Prime Minister for proposing a new Brexit blueprint that would see Britain sign up to a "common rulebook" designed by the European Union to continue trading freely with the bloc.
Mr Fysh argued the new policy is "entirely wrong" and urged the Cabinet to reconsider backing it.
Speaking to Victoria Derbyshire on Monday, the Tory MP said: "The government policy is an absolute stinker on this. It isn’t going to fly with the EU.
“It will lead us inexorably towards a vassal state is where we have to harmonise our rule book and be under punishment warnings if we deviate from it.”
Mr Fysh refused to say whether he would support a vote of no confidence for Theresa May in the aftermath of Brexit Secretary David Davis resigning from his post.
But he called on Mrs May to "get rid" of Remainers around her trying to keep Britain from withdrawing from the EU.
He continued: "I think she needs to change this policy because it’s completely the wrong policy. If she wants to break her manifesto pledges, that is up to her and things have consequences.
"It is up to her as to what he wants to do with this. I think she needs to get rid of the coterie of people around her who want to stop Britain leaving the European Union."
David Davis admits he didn't believe in May's Brexit plan
Her policy on this is a stinker and needs to be changed
Mr Fysh's damning assessment of the Chequers proposal came after Mr Davis announced he would resign because he did not support it.
Mr Davis said his resignation was dictated by the Prime Minister's many concessions to the Brussels bloc, putting pressure on Mrs May to stop going "any further".
Housing minister Dominic Raab was appointed to take over the Brexit Department after years of campaigning for Vote Leave.
A statement from Theresa May’s office read: ‘The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Dominic Raab MP as Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union’.
A meeting in Parliament later today will see Theresa May speak with Tory MPs and peers in a bid to maintain control in the midst of in-fighting.
