Agency employee Uyabongeka Thamzane Yengwa was found guilty of misconduct
Agency employee Uyabongeka Thamzane Yengwa was found guilty of misconduct and banned from working for at least nine months.
The judgement was made after a hearing in her absence held at the Nursing and Midwifery Council Fitness to Practice Committee, in London.
It heard that she was found asleep on duty five times during the six months she worked at Benoni Nursing Home in St Just, Cornwall and would regularly cover herself in a blanket.
She was late responding to critical emergencies - once dialing 111 instead of 999 - and on one occasion broke the news of a resident’s death to the wrong family.

Benoni Nursing Home said: “We had no choice than to report her for the incidents.
“She was an agency nurse and was only at the home for a few months.
“You do not know what kind of nurse you are going to get through an agency.
