While the majority of July has been a disappointment weather-wise for most of the UK, it appears we could be ending the month on a high note as temperatures are set to rise significantly.

The forecast for London for the remainder of the weekend and into next week is largely dry and settled. The capital can expect mild conditions with sunny intervals and temperatures fluctuating between highs of 23C-25C and lows of 11C-16C.

However, brighter weather is anticipated next week, providing Brits with the perfect opportunity for a barbecue or beach day.

BBC Weather forecasts that Monday will see temperatures peak at 27C, while Tuesday could reach a high of 28C, with the warmest part of the day expected between 3-5pm. The Met Office has issued a warning for potential heavy, thundery showers moving up from the south on Tuesday evening.

While much of Europe will be basking in 30C plus temperatures next week, Brits will be enjoying warmer weather than some parts of the globe, reports the Mirror.

In Cubatao, Brazil, temperatures are predicted to fall to a low of 17C and only reach a high of 25C next week. Certain regions of Africa will also experience temperatures below the 28C that the UK will be enjoying, with Gobabeb in Namibia expected to have highs of just 24C and Benguela in Angola seeing highs of only 22C.

According to recently released weather maps, a European heatwave could bring blistering summer weather to the UK next month. Charts from Netweather and WXCharts indicate that on August 8, a wave of hot weather will sweep across Britain, with temperatures in and around London potentially reaching 31C.

The Met Office's long-range forecast is predicting a sizzling "warmer than average" spell for the UK, with temperatures set to rise from Wednesday, August 7 until Wednesday, August 21.

Forecasters have said: "No single weather type is expected to dominate through this period. Some spells of dry, settled weather will likely alternate with wetter, cloudier conditions at times."

They added: "The wettest conditions will probably be in the northwest, with the southeast tending to be driest. Through the period as a whole, warmer than average conditions are more probable, perhaps with some short-lived hot spells."

Meanwhile, holiday hotspots across Europe are bracing for a scorcher as the Met Office issues weather warnings for three tourist-favourite countries. Weather maps from WXCHARTS indicate that a heatwave with temperatures soaring up to a blistering 46C could engulf parts of the continent.

Spain, particularly its southern regions, could experience sweltering mid-40s temperatures today, prompting alerts for tourists.

A Met Office weather warning blankets much of southwestern Europe, forecasting searing heat this week. In contrast, the UK is expected to enjoy relatively cooler weather in the coming days.

"A damp cloudy start, with outbreaks of locally heavy rain moving eastwards along southern counties of England throughout the day," the Met Office has forecasted. "Showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland, locally heavy later. Turning a little brighter elsewhere. A little cooler than yesterday."
