Masked man ‘with crossbow and knife’ tasered by police in Manchester city centre
A MAN armed with a crossbow and a knife has been taken down by police in Manchester city centre.

Dramatic images have emerged online as armed police swarmed on Great Ancoats Street.
Witnesses at the scene said officers blasted the man with a taser five times.
A police dog was then released and rushed towards the man.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “We were called at 2.30pm to reports of a man walking around with a crossbow and a knife on Tib Street in Manchester city centre.
“A man was detained and has been arrested.”

“A police cordon has now been put in place around a bag that the man was carrying.
“During the detainment, a Taser and a baton launcher was used by officers.
“As is standard practice, an automatic referral to GMP’s Professional Standards Branch and the IPCC has been made.”
