Police stunned as man calls 999 after trying to buy naked images from woman over Facebook
POLICE were left stunned after an irate member of the public who 999 after trying to buy naked pictures from a woman over Facebook.
The man phoned the police after the naked images he bought failed to arrive
The unnamed man called the emergency number to complain after the saucy pictures he had bought failed to arrive.
He had used PayPal to purchase the pictures which the woman had advertised for sale via Facebook.
When he tried to ask the woman for his money back he discovered she had blocked him.
The woman then blocked the man on Facebook
The man then dialled 999 to ask police to help get his money back.
He now wants us to get him his money back
The complaint was made to Nottinghamshire police and highlighted by the force’s Gedling beat team who said the unusual call, which will be logged as fraud, followed shortly after reports over suicide risks, fights and domestic assaults.
A spokesman said: “Sometimes the calls for service to the police genuinely amaze me.
“Honestly, a member of the public has called us because he has paid a local woman for some naked pictures advertised via Facebook and using PayPal.
The 999 service celebrated its 80th anniversary last Friday
“The pictures haven’t arrived. He now wants us to get him his money back as she’s blocked him. This will probably attract a crime number for fraud.
“In the 10 minutes before that incident we received 999 calls regarding domestic assaults, suicide risks, and two fights.”
Last Friday, the 999 service marked its 80th anniversary.
Around 100 staff working at a Nottingham BT centre handle four-and-a-half million 999 emergency calls every year.
The workers, based at a secret location in Nottingham, answer 86,000 calls a week and direct callers to the relevant emergency service.
They handle emergency calls from across the country and recently received the first reports of the Grenfell Tower blaze in London, as well as the London Bridge and Manchester Arena terror attacks.
