Islamic school ordered to CLOSE for failing to prepare pupils for ‘modern British society’
EDUCATION inspectors have demanded an Islamic schools closes after a report found it failed to challenge sexist views and did not prepare children for life in a ’modern British society’.
Darul Uloom school said girls were the reason for poverty
One student at the Darul Uloom School in Leicester even said girls were the reason for poverty, the Ofsted found.
Many pupils “held stereotypical views on the roles of men and women in the workplace”, the investigation concluded.
The boys school, one of four ordered to close charges up to £2,700 each year but inspectors ruled pupils were not given proper moral guidance.
Ofsted found the site was unsafe and needed urgent repair when they visited in May.
They also said wiring in showers had not been properly protected and food debris was left in the kitchen.
But Darul Aloom has lodged an appeal with the courts, meaning they can continue running until a ruling is made.

The Department for Education confirmed the school was taken off the register but said the closure is automatically lifted when an appeal is launched.
A spokesperson for the DfE said: "When we find schools promoting twisted ideologies or discrimination in classrooms, we will take action, including closing the school or working with the police as necessary."

Inspectors said there were "serious weaknesses in safeguarding procedures".
The official report also said teachers didn't ensure pupils were exposed to a range of different views.
Under the tougher Independent Schools Standards, all independent schools are required to prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in British society.
