DAVID Cameron was a “pretty terrible” Prime Minister who put the Conservative party before the country, according to Jeremy Paxman.

The veteran presenter laid into Cameron over his “well-nigh unforgivable” EU referendum record in the latest dressing down of the former Prime Minister.
Mr Paxman, who retired from presenting BBC Newsnight in 2014, said on Irish talk-show The Late Late show: “I’m not a great fan of Cameron, actually, if you really want to know.

“I think he probably knew that.
“You look at the Brexit referendum - what Cameron did was to put the interests of his party above the interests of his country and that seems to me to be well-nigh unforgivable.
I think he's been a pretty terrible Prime Minister
“He put the whole question of the country's identity up for grabs in an referendum and then didn't even bother to make the case for staying in Europe.
“So I think he's got quite a lot on his conscience, I think he's been a pretty terrible Prime Minister actually.”
Mr Paxman has also set his crosshairs on other political figures since he stepped down from the BBC’s flagship politics programme, including White House contender Hillary Clinton.
