Elderly man dies and two others suffering hypothermia after going missing hillwalking
ONE of three elderly men who were rescued after going missing while hillwalking has died.
However, Police Scotland have yet to formally reveal which one of the trio of Bobby Thomson, 64, George Crosbie, 73, and Jeffrey Stewart had died.
The three men disappeared when they went for a walk in the hills at Durisdeer, Dumfries and Galloway on Tuesday morning.

They had been expected to have finished their walk by 3.30pm but did not come back.
The men were experienced hillwalkers who knew the area north of Thornhill very well, police said.
Police Scotland can confirm that one of the three missing walkers recovered earlier today near Durisdeer has been pronounced dead at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
They were were found 2.5 miles east of the village of Durisdeer on Wednesday following a large-scale search involving police and mountain rescue teams and they were airlifted to hospital.
But a police statement later said: "Police Scotland can confirm that one of the three missing walkers recovered earlier today near Durisdeer has been pronounced dead at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
"The two other men are currently being treated for hypothermia in the hospital. Next of kin are being informed and the procurator fiscal has been informed."
The news comes as two people were taken to hospital after an avalanche in the Cairngorms, in the North of Scotland, where they remain in a serious condition.
