The top five most in demand seaside towns have been revealed - with popular tourist resort Blackpool clinching fourth place in the rundown.

Coastal living has always held a strong allure for some - thanks to beautiful beach walks and glorious views overlooking sparkling seas. Life by the water is tempting for so many.

Now Rightmove - one of the UK’s leading property websites - has revealed the seaside resorts that are the most sought after by house hunters, with Blackpool taking the fourth spot just months after being named the UK’s "worst" seaside town.

The data was compiled by analysing the number of people contacting estate agents on the property hub as well as how local house prices have changed since 2019.

A spokesperson for the website said: “This week well and truly marked the arrival of the summer weather we’ve been waiting for, with many parts of the UK finding themselves in an official heatwave.

“So, when the mercury rises, our attention always turns to what it might be like to live close to the sea, where a cool-off paddle is merely a pebble’s-throw away.”

Topping the top five list was Bournemouth in Dorset. It boasts seven miles of glorious sandy beaches, 2,000 acres of green space and the Jurassic Coast on the doorstep. The current average asking price is £360,298 with an average asking price increase (2019 vs 2024) of 22 percent.

Brighton in East Sussex took second place  - with an average asking price of £473,391 which is an 11 percent on 2019 prices.

In third place is Poole in Dorset - its “millionaires’ row” Sandbanks famed for Californian-style mansions. There is an average asking price of £463,367, 21 percent up on 2019.

And, perhaps surprisingly, Blackpool, in Lancashire, takes fourth place. The famous seaside resort has an average asking price of £147,331 - a 24 percent increase on 2019. The popular seaside attraction is on the cusp of mega-change with investment being plundered into it.

Rounding off the rundown is Weston-Super-Mare, in Somerset with an average asking price of £281,170, up 27 percent on 2019.

Meanwhile, the delightful Welsh coastal town of Tenby has been crowned as the best seaside destination for holiday entertainment, scoring an impressive 7.71 out of 10.

With four different beaches all within short walking distance of its town centre, cobbled alleyways that could be in Italy or the south of France, and rows of pristine, colourful houses which are the envy of towns all over the UK, it's no wonder this seaside town has been named the "best" in Britain.
