Snowboard crash girl dies
A BRITISH student who suffered a horrific snowboarding accident in the French Alps died yesterday.
Emily Watts, known as Mimi, fell headfirst into a snowdrift at Chamonix on Saturday and was trapped for about 45 minutes.
By the time emergency crews arrived, the 26-year-old, from Lavenham, Suffolk, had suffered a cardiac arrest, prompting fears of brain damage. Her parents, Nicky McAllister and Dominic Watts, along with her 27-year-old brother Rory, flew to France to be at her bedside, where she was on a life support machine.
In a statement before Miss Watts’s death, her family said they were extremely grateful to a British man who discovered her and raised the alarm.
Her aunt Shona Pollock said the family were “consumed with grief”.
