Care bills up £16bn
CARE bills for Britain’s pensioners will soar by £16.1billion to £37.9billion a year by 2025, a study predicts today.
The number of people who will need long-term care will grow from 840,184 today to 1.1 million, it says. The average cost will rise from £26,000 per person to £33,000.
The figures are from a survey by retirement specialist LV= whose spokeswoman Vanessa Owen said: “The UK is facing an uncertain future on the funding of long-term care. It is a real concern.”
The Daily Express crusade Respect for the Elderly has called for a fairer deal for pensioners who need care either at home or elsewhere.
