UK meat giant plunges into administration - in business since 1986
The company operates from two manufacturing plants in North Yorkshire.

A UK meat supplier that has been operating since the 1980s has plunged into administration. Holmesterne Farm Co. Limited, which trades as Holmesterne Foods, appointed joint administrators on May 11, 2026, according to a notice published in the London Gazette.
The company’s website says that Holmesterne was established in 1986 and operates from two manufacturing plants in North Yorkshire. The business began from a catering butchery base and expanded into supplying value-added meat and vegetable products to retailers, manufacturers and food service customers. Its product range includes raw, cooked, chilled, ambient and frozen meat and vegetable products.

The appointment of administrators was made in the High Court of Justice, Business and Property Courts, Leeds Insolvency and Companies List (ChD).
The company’s principal trading address is Gatherley Road Industrial Estate, Brompton On Swale, Richmond, North Yorkshire.
According to the notice, James Richard Clark and Howard Smith, both of Interpath Advisory, Interpath Ltd, were appointed as joint administrators.
Holmesterne operates two manufacturing factories and is equipped to extrude, tumble, mix, blend, slice and dice. Cooking formats include steam, brat, roast and retort.
The finished product range includes ribs, sausages, stuffings, kebabs, marinated meats, roast vegetables and cooked meat products supplied in a variety of pack formats.
At its Brompton on Swale site, in-house butchers process raw, chilled and frozen red meat and poultry.
Stuffings, meatballs and barbecue products are also manufactured at that location.

Its Leeming Bar facility produces cooked meat products and roast and steamed vegetables supplied chilled, frozen or ambient stable.
The company also has a development kitchen, which works with customers to turn food ideas into commercial products.
Its customers are split across the retail, manufacturing and food service sectors.
