Tragedy as binman in his 20s killed in horror incident 'involving team's own lorry'

A young binman has died in a crash in Devon, which involved his team's lorry. Emergency services were called to the incident in Torquay yesterday afternoon.

A White bin lorry and one member of the crew were involved in the crash, with a man in his 20s reported dead at the scene. Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement: "Emergency services were called at 12:43pm on Tuesday 27 May to a collision on Higher Warberry Road, involving a white bin lorry and a member of the crew.

"A local man in his 20s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware."

The police are appealing for witnesses with any further information into the incident. Anyone with dashcam footage or information which may assist the investigation should contact police online or by calling 101 quoting log 330 of 27 May 2025.

The Health and Safety Executive have been informed about the incident.
