This incredible four-hour walk has been named one of the best in the UK and is located in one of the country's most popular areas of natural beauty.

Helvellyn, the third-highest peak in England and the Lake District, is a more accessible option for walkers compared to the first and second-highest peaks in the nation - Scafell Pike and Sca Fell.

The 9.8-mile walk up the peak is called Romantic Fell.

The route takes you up to the summit via Greenside and Keppel Cove.

The beautiful walk has made it a popular choice among hikers and was named the top spot in ITV's series Britain's Favourite Walks: The Top 100.

The breathtaking views from the summit of the flat-topped mountain, coupled with the technical scramble along its thrilling Striding Edge route, make it an adventure-filled hike.

Despite being one of the most favoured hikes in the UK, walking Helvellyn is not a challenge to be underestimated.

Standing tall at 950m (3,117ft) above sea level, this mountain requires a good level of fitness, regardless of the route chosen.

Due to the sharp ridges of the mountain, carved by glaciers during the last ice age, some climbing is inevitable, no matter which approach you take to conquer Helvellyn.

Helvellyn is roughly 450 million years old and is a favourite among hikers and ramblers, largely due to its ridiculously expansive views.

The Lake District, England’s largest national park, contains the country’s largest lake, Windermere and deepest lake, Wast Water.

It is also home to England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
