A yoga-teaching eco-warrior, who was part of posse of climate activists that brought rush hour traffic to halt, wants hard-working Brits to fork out to cover her substantial court fine.

Stefania Morosi, 46, has been arrested 14 times as an activist for Just Stop Oil, Insulate Britain and Extinction Rebellion.

The Ealing resident was slapped with a £928 fine as punishment for her highly disruptive protests.

Now she’s complaining that her arrests have left her struggling to get enough work.

According to MailOnline, the mum-of-two delayed 48,000 vehicles, including police and ambulances, when she and eight other activists demonstrated on the M25.

Morosi was made to do 280 hours of unpaid community work, which she claims she undertakes every Monday, as well as four suspended jail terms.

Despite her lofty fine, Morosi has managed to swerve paying for a large part of it out of her own pocket, securing £485 via a GoFundMe page.

The climate crusader was most recently in court in April for her involvement in a sit-down protest at the Junction 31 slip road of the London Orbital motorway near Purfleet in Essex in 2021.

The self-described “primal movement” teacher was handed a suspended sentence for causing public nuisance.

Begging the public for the money to pay her fines, she wrote: “I'm a mother of two boys, a yoga teacher and a woman who is deeply concerned about the impacts of the climate emergency on people's lives right now and the even worse impacts to come.

“Some impacts are unavoidable at this point but every percentage of a degree of warming counts and will cause pain and destruction for a higher number of people: every human counts, our children count.

“This is why I did not remain just concerned, I decided to act.

“I took to the streets with the Extinction Rebellion, I was part of Insulate Britain demanding that the UK government insulate British homes starting from the poorest, a no brainer demand if we are serious about tackling rising emissions of CO2.

“I joined in with Just Stop Oil supporting the other no-brainer demand that we stop licensing new gas and oil fields.”

Morosi went on: “My actions got me arrested 14th times for peacefully protesting against our government inaction.

“I had many trials, in magistrate and in crown court, many days of lost income, many fines, 280 hours of community payback which means unpaid work every Monday, lost job opportunities with big charities who could not go past my criminal record.

“I currently have four suspended sentences for a total of months I would spend in prison if I dared to go out on the streets again, cause these days, no type of protest is safe.”

She added: “They have changed the rules for the police to arrest us more easily with the UK now being considered by the UN human rights watch as a place where human rights are eroded quickly.”
