Man arrested as part of investigation into Cardiff crash which killed three young people
The horrific crash that claimed the lives of three young people in early March left two others badly injured.
South Wales Police have arrested a 32-year-old man as part of its probe into a crash in Cardiff which killed three young people in March - Darcy Ross, 21, Eve Smith, 21, and Rafel Jeanne, 24.
Officers said a white Volkswagen Tiguan vehicle left the A48 in the St Mellons area of Cardiff into a wooded area on Saturday, March 4, and was not discovered for nearly 48 hours.
The offences for which the man has been arrested are not connected to the deadly crash itself, officers said.
However, a detective said the arrest "involves the same vehicle".
The man, released on bail pending further enquiries, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified on the M4 at around 10pm on March 3.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Davies of South Wales Police said: "The arrest was made as a result of evidence identified by officers investigating the fatal collision and involves the same vehicle.
"Our detailed investigation is continuing which will enable us to provide the facts of what happened during the early hours of Saturday 4 March.
"Our thoughts continue to be with the families and all those affected by this tragic incident."
Ms Ross and Ms Smith were passengers in the car driven by Mr Jeanne. The crash involved two other people - Sophie Russon, 20, and Shane Loughlin, 32 - who were left badly injured.
They were discovered on March 6, 46 hours after the incident happened at 2.03am on March 4.
The victims' families reported their loved ones missing on the evening of that same day, after they noticed the young people had not returned home.
Gwent Police, however, didn't issue an appeal to find them until 11pm the following day, more than 27 hours after they were first reported missing.
The group had been on a night out to The Muffler social club in Maesglas, Newport on March 3 before they headed to Trecco Bay caravan park in Porthcawl, some 40 miles away.
The five were last seen in the Pentwyn area of Cardiff at around 2am, after having dropped off a sixth passenger.
