Police have requested anyone with information should call them at 101 or use the incident number 538 of April 17.
XL Bully dogs, also known as American Bully XLs, are legal dogs that are described by Dog Breed Info as "extremely loyal" and "an affectionate family pet" to own.
However, in recent years, dogs of this breed have been involved in several brutal attacks on other dogs and humans.
In July last year, Joanne Robinson, 43, was killed by her own American Bully XL called Rocco — dubbed a "good dog".
Rocco mauled Ms. Robinson in South Yorkshire after it "snapped" as she made her way home from a night out.
Her partner Jamie Stead tried to save her but was also mauled by the dog and suffered injuries on his face, hands, and chest.
In another incident, in the same year, a 17-month-old named Bella-Rae Birch was killed by one of the dogs. Her family had only purchased the savage dog a week before the attack.
