Duke of Kent on the recovery path
ON his first public appearance since suffering a mild stroke, the Duke of Kent, left, paraded with the Scots Guards yesterday.
The Queen’s cousin, 77, was treated in hospital when he was taken ill at Buckingham Palace last month. But he looked fit and healthy as he marched down the Mall in his role as Colonel of the Regiment.
The Duke has been president of the Stroke Association since its inception more than 20 years ago. Some 150,000 people suffer a stroke each year in the UK.
Charity chief Jon Barrick said the Duke had always “shown tremendous support and dedication”.
The Duke is perhaps best known as president of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club which sees him presenting the winners’ trophies at Wimbledon.
