Kate Middleton set to launch liner
THE Duchess of Cambridge is to name a new cruise liner.
Kate, 31, whose baby is due in mid-July, will launch Princess Cruises’ 141,000-ton ship Royal Princess at Southampton on June 13.
She will smash a bottle over the hull and tour the vessel, which has a glass-bottomed walkway extending 28ft over the side, the largest seagoing pastry shop and balconies on all outside staterooms.
The Royal Princess carries 3,600 passengers and leaves on its maiden voyage on June 16. It will cruise the Mediterranean in the summer and sail for the Caribbean this autumn.
Princess Cruises’ president and chief executive Alan Buckelew said: “We are delighted that the Duchess will launch our new ship.”
