Don't you know who I am? Zara Phillips turned away from Cheltenham enclosure by guard
FREEZING weather swept over the Cheltenham Festival yesterday – but the cold could not spoil Zara Phillips’ day at the races.
A security guard failed to recognise Zara Phillips and tried to stop her entering the enclosure.
The Olympic equestrian silver medallist wrapped up warmly but still looked stylish in a cream double-breasted winter coat.
The Queen’s granddaughter completed her outfit with a 1940’s-style purple velvet fascinator decorated with feathers, plus a matching clutch bag.
Zara, 31, and her husband, ex-England rugby union captain Mike Tindall, 34, joined thousands at the Gloucestershire course for the first day of the prestigious meeting.
Racing was delayed for 35 minutes because parts of the course were frozen overnight in temperatures of -12C.
The only cloud yesterday for Zara came when a security guard failed to recognise her and tried to stop her entering the enclosure.
Meanwhile, racing pundit John McCririck, 72, was “stable” in hospital last night after feeling faint at Cheltenham. It is the first time in 30 years that he has not fronted coverage for Channel 4, who he is suing for £3million.
