Prince William and Princess Kate are believed to be considering a house move soon from their humble four-bed Windsor Cottage. Since moving to Adelaide Cottage in 2022, the couple are believed to have felt fondly towards the royal home and the surroundings offered by the Windsor estate, which has given their three children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, greater privacy.

However, while many happy memories have been made at the Windsor home, it is believed both William, 43, and Kate, 43, are thinking of relocating the family to a “small castle”. This “small castle”, called Fort Belvedere, is located in Windsor Great Park and is just a small drive from the family’s existing home.

It is believed that the castle would offer them more space as the children get older, and comes with more perks such as a swimming pool and tennis courts.

While it is not known how the royal children will feel about the rumoured move, one royal expert has said that if the family do relocate to the grade II-listed gothic-revival mansion, the children’s happiness will be a “top priority” for The Prince and Princess of Wales.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror: "William and Catherine have been so set on giving their children a more 'normal' upbringing than royal youngsters before them that it's hard to imagine them wanting to move to what is, in effect, a castle — albeit it a relatively small one.

"Whatever they decide, William and Catherine will have their children's happiness at heart.

"For them, preserving a relaxed, cosy family life – as close to some sort of normality as possible given their status – is a top priority.”

Before moving to Windsor in 2022, the family lived in Kensington Palace in central London.

While they have fond memories of Palace life, it is believed William and Kate wanted their children to live somewhere they would have greater privacy and a more “ordinary” way of life with no live-in staff.

At the time, it is believed that Prince William also wanted to live closer to Windsor Castle as it was where the late Queen Elizabeth II was living.

However, the late Queen sadly passed away just weeks after the family made the move.
