Late Queen becomes first foreign personality to feature on Italian stamp in major honour
The commemorative stamp features a series of coloured silhouettes of "Regina Elisabetta II" and it shows her in different decades of her life as the longest-reigning monarch in British history.
Queen Elizabeth II is featured on a brand-new stamp issued by the Italian Postal Service.
The stamp was released to mark the anniversary of the death of Her Late Majesty, in a rare type of homage to the late monarch.
The commemorative stamp features a series of coloured silhouettes of "Regina Elisabetta II" and it shows her in different decades of her life as the longest-reigning monarch in British history.
It was revealed on Tuesday at a ceremony in Rome in the presence of the British Ambassador to Italy, Edward Llewellyn and the minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso.
It is extremely rare for the Italian Postal Service to issue a stamp featuring a non-Italian and with the exception of some Popes, the late Queen is the first foreign historical personality to whom Rome dedicates this type of honour.

The Royal Family immediately thanked them on social media.
They said on Twitter: "Thank you @PosteItaliane for a wonderful tribute to Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The newly issued postage stamp is a special and rare instance of Italy dedicating a stamp to a non-Italian."
Mr Urso said: The Italian people, like others and more than others, admired her and also knew her for the affection she has always had for culture, history and in general for our people, in whom she often found comfort.
"At all stages of her life, Queen Elizabeth II was deeply admired."
