Prince Philip ignored plea from Fergie's dad as 'embarrassing' scandal could 'taint' royal
PRINCE PHILIP rebuffed efforts from Sarah Ferguson's father, Major Ron Ferguson, to reach out for assistance amid a humiliating scandal that was having a catastrophic "fallout".

Prince Philip "refused" to help Sarah Ferguson's dad, Major Ron Ferguson, after the polo manager was hit by a huge scandal. In 1988 he was photographed entering the Wigmore Club, a massage parlour which "allegedly offered à la carte sexual services to members", according to the Daily Telegraph. Royal commentators discussed the devastating consequences that this had for Major Ron's standing with the Royal Family on Channel 5 documentary, 'When Fergie Met The Monarchy'.
Biographer Ingrid Seward told viewers: "The fallout from this scandal of at the Wigmore Club was enormous.
"At the time, Ron was running the Guards Polo Club and had a very responsible job.
"But this scandal really besmirched his name."
Major Ferguson lost his position at Guards Polo Club, but claimed he was not "sacked or resigned".

He said he was just no re-elected and was "not prepared to accept the alternative position".
Prince Philip, who was president of the club, refused to help.
Mail on Sunday Royal Editor Emily Andrews added: "He kept asking to meet Philip, his daughter's father-in-law, and Philip refused because of the associated taint.
"Unfortunately he had become basically persona non grata."

She continued: "Families all fall out, we have tiffs, but when you have a fall from grace like that within the Royal Family it takes a very long time to be accepted back in.
"And in some cases, people never are."
PR expert Farzana Baduel gave further insight: "It was deeply embarrassing for Ron Ferguson because he was enjoying the reflected glory of being associated with the Windsors."

She told Channel 5: "All of a sudden he had his antics just splashed over all the front covers of the tabloids.
"Of course, it must have deeply embarrassed his daughter."
Relationship psychologist Anjula Mutanda added: "Fergie became guilty by association - 'this is your father, this is what he's done'.
"She almost has to mop up after that particular scandal.
"She also, once again, has to redouble her efforts to get into the Royal Family's good graces."
