Prince William heartbreak: 'Desperate' Duke ordered by Queen to step down from dream role
PRINCE WILLIAM was forced to give up his dream career because the Queen insisted upon it, a royal expert has claimed.
Prince William ‘wasn't allowed near frontline’ claims expert
The Duke of Cambridge was desperate to pursue a career in the military but the monarch would not allow it because of his commitments to the throne, royal commentator Simon Vigar said. Speaking on Channel 5 documentary, 'William and Kate: Too Good to be True', the broadcaster claimed Prince William "wasn't allowed anywhere near the frontline" because the "ultimate boss" said no.
Mr Vigar explained the future King had trained to be a helicopter pilot ahead of his transition to reign but he was not permitted to continue his service in the British Armed Forces.
He said: "William was desperate to stay in the military and of course he trained to be a helicopter pilot.
"But in the end, he wasn't allowed anywhere near the frontline.
"The ultimate boss said no because he is second-in-line to the throne."

Mr Vigar went on to explain Prince William retrained so he could use his skills to help others, something that "meant an awful lot to him".
The royal expert said: "He retrained as a search and rescue pilot on Anglesey.
"He helped save many, many lives flying that yellow helicopter around the British Isles.
"So that gave him a meaningful role. And that meant an awful lot to him."
Prince William is ‘stepping up within the family’ says expert
The Duke, who spent two years from 2015 flying medics to emergencies, used his time as a rescue pilot in Wales to shy away from the glare of scrutiny shortly after his fairytale wedding to Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, according to royal commentator Katie Nicholl.
She said: "He did have those early years of married life out of the spotlight able to pursue his career.
"And knowing that in the not too distant future his life and Catherine's life would be a life of royal duty for the rest of their lives."
Prince William was said to be considering a return to his helicopter flying duties to "do his bit" in the UK's fight against coronavirus, reported The Sun.

A source told the newspaper: “He knows the whole country is doing its bit and he wants to help."
They added: “But it’s complicated as he was originally grounded from the job so that he could become a senior working royal.”
However, Buckingham Palace said it would not be commenting on the report when approached.
The Duke's father, Charles, the Prince of Wales, struggled with his own battle with coronavirus earlier this year, with the future King suffering a mild form of the illness.
