Meghan Markle sees herself as 'role model' as she and Harry embrace BLM stand
MEGHAN MARKLE sees herself as a "role model" who can speak about the issue of racial equality and is now working with Prince Harry to help communities and charities on the matter, a royal expert has said.
Meghan Markle ‘seems a lot more comfortable’ says expert
Meghan and Prince Harry are dedicating their attention to the Black Lives Matter movement and what it stands for following the death of George Floyd, a royal expert said. And the Duchess of Sussex sees herself as a role model who, also thanks to her own personal experiences, can speak of the issue of racial equality, royal commentator Katie Nicholl claimed.
Speaking to ET online, she added: "She believes that there is an expectation on her to address what's going on and to [show] support.
"And that is what they're doing.
"They're speaking to community leaders from a number of different organisations and charities.
"I'm told this is something they want to keep private at the moment while they work out what they can do and how they can help."
Ms Nicholl added Meghan and Harry are examining how to best get involved on this on a community level.
This decision to get involved on the issue of racial equality comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been worked for months with associations and their patronages to better understand the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on them and how to help, the expert said.
She continued: "They've been very busy with the COVID efforts, particularly how it's impacting on their charities.

"And their focus is now, I'm told, shifting onto this movement -- Black Lives Matter is something that really resonates with both of them."
The Sussexes announced their intention to focus on the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and find ways to help in late March, when they bowed out of their Instagram account Sussex Royal.
Saying they would take a break from the public eye, Meghan and Harry added they would continue to work behind the scenes on ways they could "best contribute" and their non-for-profit organisation, Archewell.
Meghan and Harry have "different perspective" on the issue, but it equally matters to them, Ms Nicholl continued.
She said: "The Black Lives Matter movement matters to Meghan and it matters to Harry.
"And I understand that this is going to be an area where we're going to see the couple doing a lot more work and taking a lot more interest.
"They come in on this from different perspectives, Meghan as a Californian, Harry as an Englishman, both of them keeping abreast of what's happening, both here in the UK and in LA.

"But this is a campaign that matters to them.
"This is something they want to be more involved with and I'm told we're going to see them really focusing their energy on this over the next coming weeks."
Meghan delivered last week a raw and powerful address to the graduating class of 2020 at her former high school, the Immaculate Heart.
Her speech focused on George Floyd's death, the Black Lives Matter movement and her own experience during the LA riots in 1992.
